Booking and Pricing

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking 2-4 weeks in advance, especially during peak season (June-September). Last-minute bookings may be available.

What’s included in the trip cost?

All fishing equipment (rods, reels, flies, tackle), instruction, safety equipment, and lunch on full-day trips. Transportation to/from the river is also included.

Do I need a fishing license?

Yes, a valid Alberta fishing license is required. We can help you obtain one or you can purchase online at mywildalberta.ca.

What to Expect

What if I’ve never fly fished before?

Perfect! Our guides specialize in teaching beginners. We’ll start with basic casting and work up to reading water and selecting flies.

What should I bring?

Weather-appropriate clothing, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and camera. We provide all fishing equipment and waders if needed.

What if the weather is bad?

Safety first! We’ll reschedule or provide a full refund for dangerous conditions. Light rain often makes for great fishing!

Fishing Details

What fish will we catch?

The Bow River is famous for rainbow and brown trout, with fish regularly exceeding 20 inches. Mountain whitefish are also common and excellent sport.

Can I keep fish?

We strongly encourage catch and release to preserve this world-class fishery. Some small fish may be kept following provincial regulations.

When is the best time to fish?

April through November offers excellent fishing. Spring and fall are peak seasons, with summer providing great dry fly opportunities.
