Rainbow Trout
The most abundant species in Calgary’s Bow River system. Known for their acrobatic fights and beautiful coloration.

- Preferred Flies: Blue Winged Olives, Prince Nymphs, Woolly Buggers
Brown Trout
Highly selective and intelligent, brown trout represent the ultimate challenge for Calgary anglers.
- Average Size: 18-22 inches
- Trophy Size: 24+ inches
- Best Times: Fall spawning season
- Preferred Flies: Large streamers, terrestrials, precise nymph presentations
Mountain Whitefish
Often overlooked but excellent sport fish, especially during winter months.

- Best Times: Winter through early spring
- Preferred Flies: Small nymphs, San Juan worms
