Our Story

King Trout Outfitters was founded in 2008 with a simple mission: to share the incredible fly fishing opportunities of Calgary's Bow River with anglers from around the world. We believe that world-class fishing shouldn't require a remote wilderness trip—it flows right through our city.

As local Calgary guides, we've spent over 15 years learning every bend, riffle, and holding lie on the Bow River. This intimate knowledge—built through 200+ days on the water every season—allows us to put our clients on fish consistently, whether you're a first-time fly fisher or an experienced angler chasing trophy trout.

The Bow River isn't just where we work—it's where we fish on our days off. That passion translates into better experiences for our guests. We know which flies are working today, not just what worked last month.

Our guided float trips cover 10-15 miles of prime water, accessing productive stretches that shore anglers simply can't reach. The drift boat allows us to cover more water, find actively feeding fish, and provide a comfortable platform for casting all day.
