1. Drift boat float vs walk-and-wade

A drift boat covers 10-15 miles of the lower Bow and reaches the runs between access points that wading anglers never touch. Walk-and-wade trips cost less and teach wading skills, and they suit the upper Bow near Canmore. If it is your one day on this river, the float shows you far more water. 2. How long a "full day" really is

This is the quiet variable in every price comparison. Published full days on the Bow range from about 7 hours to as much as 12. Divide the price by the hours before you compare outfitters. Our full day is 8 hours on the water; the full cost breakdown shows exactly what those hours include.

3. What is included

Most established outfitters include rods, reels, waders, flies, and lunch. The variables are hotel pickup, shuttle logistics, and wader quality. Ask specifically. A cheap rate that needs you to rent waders and drive to a launch point is not cheap.

4. Group size and who is actually guiding

Bow River drift boats take 1-2 anglers per guide, so personal attention is standard here. What differs is whether the person who answers your email is the person rowing your boat. Smaller operations like ours mean you book Dan, you fish with Dan. Larger outfitters assign from a guide roster, which works fine but is worth knowing in advance.

5. Transparency about conditions

The Bow changes weekly: runoff, flow spikes, heat closures, hatch turnover. Any guide can promise a great day in February. Look for outfitters who publish dated, honest condition updates, including the weeks when fishing is poor.
